Kiegoi Tea Factory was commissioned in 1982. Kiegoi was the first factory to be Fair-Trade Certified in 2003.

Nestled close to Nyambene Hills in Eastern Province, Meru County, Igembe Division, Kanthiari location, and Gitumi sub-location, Kiegoi is situated at a latitude of 0.2° N and a longitude of 37.9° E. It is positioned 330 kilometers away from Nairobi and can be reached via the Nairobi – Maua Road, followed by the Maua – Kiegoi (a 5 kilometer) feeder road.
